What's our secret mission to make life easier for you?

We are here to free your time and reduce landfill, that’s our mission! Why have the hassle of recycling cluttering your home and having to take it in yourself. Free your time. Avoid queues. Reduce clutter. No rinsing containers. Less mess. In three easy steps you can join the Reward Recycling™ service, be rewarded, reduce landfill and help save the planet! So convenient. We’re all winning, including the planet.

What we do and why we do it

We believe that recycling should NOT go into landfill and provide 50 Free Bins Every Month to reduce landfill. We provide free wheelie bins for recycling 10 cent recyclable containers. We pick it up for free when it is full so you don’t have to take it in. And we donate 10% of all profit to charity.

The four plan options for you are listed in the Get a Bin section. Choose a plan that works best for you. All we ask is you recycle, on average, 3 or more ten cent recyclable containers per day so the bin is full in 10 weeks. It’s better than tipping things into waste!

Please note that while we are not a ‘non-profit’, we are not about money, most revenue above running costs is turned straight back to get more bins out there to reduce landfill. You can be sure you are helping save the planet.

Why choose Reward Recycling?

Your time is valuable. We are convenient and you can be sure what you recycle is recycled and not going to landfill because of contamination from other people. Our bins are a tidy way to keep your home tidy, reduce clutter and eliminate the extra piles of work that never seem to finish. You ring, we pick it up, it’s that simple. This reduces congestion on our roads, clutter in your mind, and clutter where you don’t need it. That is what our bins are for. Peace of mind.

How did we start?

Ipswich City Council stopped recycling in 2018 due to very high contamination rates, then started again, but they still don’t take glass. We started Reward Recycling because we believe recycling should NOT go into landfill, and decided to make it more convenient, so more people would do the right thing. Our project provides 50 FREE no-deposit bins every month to reduce landfill.

What can I recycle?

You can recycle 10 cent recyclable containers in our bins. It’s easiest just to think of this as just drink containers. Think drink. Not plastic milk containers, 2 litre containers or wine bottles. 10 cent recyclables include all your glass beer bottles, aluminium cans, plastic water bottles and soft drinks, fruit juice poppers and Up N Go Poppers and small flavoured milk containers. Containers must be empty, and be uncrushed and unbroken. Anything with a 10 cent logo on them, and not 2 litres (because they take up too much space), is okay. Containers don’t need to be rinsed out. Nor do the lids need to be taken off for us.

What can’t I recycle in this bin?

No 2 litre containers. No wine bottles. No ordinary glass. No broken glass. No plain milk containers (this one can go in your ordinary recycling bin). No plastic bags (remember this for even your ordinary recycling bin, did you know plastic bags gum the machines up and risk entire loads of recycling being thrown into landfill!). No paper. No cardboard (these two can go in your ordinary recycling bin except, did you know, pizza boxes!, not them as they’re oily. I never knew that.). No waste, obviously. Check for the 10 cent recycle scheme logo. Don’t worry about getting it exactly right, we’ll provide feedback to help 🙂

Can I recycle ordinary glass for free? I don't want to have to drive it to the tip myself.

10 cent glass beer bottles can go in our wheelie bin as can 10 cent aluminium, plastic and some tetrapacks (poppers). However, if you have ordinary glass like wine bottles, jam jars and sauce bottles – which can no longer be recycled in Ipswich – what can you do!?! We provide an extra plastic sack which we can pick up when we collect your 10 cent wheelie bin! It’s easy for us to do this as a service for customers because we are already there to pick up the 10 cent containers. Our mission is we believe that recycling should NOT go into landfill. So we are very happy to help out as part of our commitment and see that this goes to the right place. Frees your time up and glass is no longer being wasted going into landfill.

How often does my bin get picked up? What do I do?

Just let us know when the bin is full to the brim. Must be full to the brim, not lower, as that increases costs. We provide an extra plastic sack for overflow. We get you to phone or text us when the bin needs to be picked up the day before (or days leading up to) your assigned pickup day. This lets us know as a bin can take up to 10 weeks to fill which varies from person to person obviously and we note you down for our bin run. Have bin accessible within your front yard, preferably not the footpath, on bin collection day before 6am. This can be just the regular spot you keep it, that’s okay. This is more secure for you, and convenient. We will come in and empty it.

How do I get a bin in 3 easy steps?

1. Read what we do (above), our frequently asked questions.

2. Fill out our online Enquiry Form to register your interest and choose from one of our Reward Plans. All we ask of you is that you recycle, on average, 3 or more ten cent containers per day to fill the bin full to the brim within 10 weeks.

3. We email you an Information Sheet and phone you one night between 6pm to 8pm to run you through the system, arrange options, and answer questions you may have. Then we deliver the bin to your home on our weekly run. You don’t have to be home for this. We drop it off into your yard.

Plus we drop off a FREE handy tub gift if you would like one. It’s a 16 litre flexible laundry tub for collecting the 10 cent recyclables inside so you can take them outside in one go. Half our people already have a system yet just in case you haven’t, we like to think of everything 🙂 It’s fun seeing people’s eyes light up. Yes please.
